John Tan:
People in the US who studied in top universities don’t take up top political or civil service positions. They get hired by the likes of Goldman Sachs & JP Morgan.
US commentator Tom Friedman once noted: “There is one thing future historians will surely remark upon, and that is the utter poverty of imagination that characterized US foreign policy in the late 1990s.
Henry Kissinger has also noted, that the problem wit US-China relationship is that the US has no strategy. And that th ecurrent demonization of Putin is NOT US policy, but an ALIBI for the absence of one.
Perhaps this explains why all the sanctions that was imposed recently, especially against China & Russia, has backfired. The US do not have their best running their foreign policy but 2nd raters like Tony Blinken who was easily out maneuvered by Wang Yi in the US-China talks in Alaska. And easily chastised by Mia Mottey Prime Minister of the Barbados during the summit of the Americas, and again for the same mistake during the US African Leader’s summit.
So, don’t expect to see any Top US Leaders from any top Universities. They are all too busy raking in the money to bother about leading their country.
By the way, did LKY ever attend any US Universities? I don’t think so.
